Colorado BioScience Association - Advocacy

Colorado BioScience Association | Supporting Colorado’s Biotechnology & Medical Device IndustryThe Colorado BioScience Association works to promote the needs of Colorado’s bioscience companies by proposing initiatives and providing information to national, state, and local elected and appointed officials. CBSA is ably represented by professional lobbyists who assist in this effort. Policy direction for government relations and public affairs issues is established by the Board of Directors with the advice and recommendation of CBSA's Committee on Government Relations.

Priorities Include:

  • Issues for which CBSA is seeking positive action, such as new legislation and for which CBSA takes a leadership role. An example is House Bill 1360, which passed in the 2006 session of the Colorado General Assembly.
  • Issues that are important to the growth of the industry in Colorado where CBSA ensures that the voice of the industry is heard, but where CBSA is not the lead organization. An example is funding for public higher education in Colorado (each year) and Referenda C&D in 2005.
  • Issues that arise in public policy development that will negatively impact the bioscience industry in Colorado and where it is important that CBSA inform public leaders of potential detrimental outcomes. Examples of this include changes to reimbursement policies in the health care entitlement programs that restrict access to care and choice by physicians and patients.

Weekly reports on state-level activity are sent to CBSA members during the legislative session (January-May).

CBSA encourages active and positive participation in public policy development by its members and others concerned about the success of the sector in Colorado. Please use the resources below to access information you can use to stay involved.
